According to an article in Transport Topics, the U.S. Senate has confirmed Derek Barrs as the new head of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), even as a partial government shutdown continues. A former Florida Highway Patrol chief with over 30 years in public safety, Barrs joins the Department of Transportation under Secretary Sean Duffy as the Trump administration advances major infrastructure plans and revisits Biden-era emissions policies. Industry leaders, including the American Trucking Associations and Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance, welcomed his appointment, citing his deep experience and commitment to improving roadway safety, strengthening enforcement, and ensuring only qualified commercial drivers operate nationwide.

Today I visited our West Coast Regional Distorbution Center for Marine Corps Community Services There I got to meet the amazing team that keeps products flowing to our stores. But one employee didn’t speak much. He is too busy sorting and labeling packages 24/7. With our partner Covenant we have automated robots getting products labeled and sorted. The box is then automatically pushed to a pallet position to move to a store. This has saved thousands of manual labor hours.
