In her latest piece, Gillis urges the creative industry to confront MBC’s toughest truths—its invisibility, stigma, and the urgent need for advocacy to match science. It’s more than communication; it’s a moral imperative. Because people living with MBC deserve not just empathy, but visibility, resources, and creative work that refuses to look away. Approximately 10% of #BreastCancer cases occur in women under 45, and rates are climbing. For younger women, breast cancer brings unique, lesser-known challenges, including fertility concerns, which adds to the strain on relationships, emotional isolation, and other impacts the breast cancer community faces. Through partnerships with advocacy groups like Young Survival Coalition, we’re working to address these challenges and champion the importance of early detection and self-advocacy – because better outcomes start with informed, empowered patients regardless of age. 🎗 𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬, 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐥𝐥. Few realize that 👨⚕️ 𝐦𝐞𝐧, 𝐭𝐨𝐨, 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫. It often goes unnoticed until it’s advanced, simply because it’s unexpected. 👉 Today, as part of the Public Health Awareness Initiative, I’m sharing the second video of this series, a message to raise male breast cancer awareness, because breast cancer has no gender, and awareness can save lives. 💬 To all men and women: take a moment for yourself. Know the signs. Talk about it. Awareness begins with one act of care. 📽 Watch, share, and help spread the message. #OctoberRose #BreastCancerAwareness #SantéPublique #CancerResearch #HealthEducation #MenHealth #ScienceCommunication #Prévention #Recherche #France #PublicHealth #WomenInScience

Every October, we rally around Breast Cancer Awareness Month. But awareness without action falls short. Hidden diagnostic testing costs create barriers for women who need follow-up care after a mammogram. These financial obstacles disproportionately affect uninsured women, those with high-deductible plans, and communities of color. Hospital foundations have a unique opportunity to step in—investing community benefit dollars, prioritizing inclusive breast cancer outreach, and ensuring equitable access to all diagnostic testing. Because early and thorough detection saves lives, not just money. Let’s turn awareness into impact and expand care access for everyone in our communities. Read more about how hospitals can lead the charge this October. https://blkb.co/4ntLLSy
