Google and DiMe launch AI playbook for healthcare

Building towards an AI enabled future that is driven by data, technology, and measurable outcomes

Incredibly proud to share a project we've been passionate about at Google for Health. Today, in partnership with Digital Medicine Society (DiMe), we are launching the "Playbook for Implementing AI in Healthcare." Working in this space, we know the biggest hurdles to AI adoption often aren't the technology itself. In fact, up to 70% of AI pilot failures are due to challenges with people and processes. Our goal in sponsoring this work was to help health systems navigate that complexity. This playbook provides a practical blueprint for clinical leaders and technical teams, offering a structured, three-stage approach to: 1️⃣ Identify the right problems and assess organizational readiness. 2️⃣ Evaluate and choose the most suitable and ethical AI tools. 3️⃣ Implement these tools effectively to ensure sustained value and improve patient outcomes. At Google, we believe that for AI to truly transform care, we need to equip healthcare organizations with the tools for successful implementation. This playbook is a critical step in that mission. Grateful for our partnership Cristian L.! Glad to be in this journey with you and Google for Health team. Jen McKay, MD MS, dropped so many critical nuggets worth bookmarking in today’s webinar: - The “digital data closet” analogy was spot on — we sometimes transformation starts with a little cleanup of “data closet”. 🧹 - Stackable wins concept = a powerful way to drive high-value, enterprise-wide impact. - Perfect alignment with the patient safety movement—pushing us to think more broadly and critically. - Most importantly clinical leadership is not optional -it’s foundational to meaningful implementation. Excited to keep building momentum at the intersection of AI and healthcare.

Well done Cristian and Digital Medicine Society (DiMe)! It's great you are putting out these resources to prepare the ground...many good AI tools and pilots are failing due to outdated processes and metrics.
