Last week, I asked a fellow sales rep: “What’s the hardest part of your job?” He didn’t say prospecting. He didn’t say closing. He said: “Keeping the customer’s attention.” That hit me. Because it’s true—not just in sales, but everywhere. Attention is the new currency. Think about it: - Customers scroll past ads in less than 2 seconds. - Emails are skimmed, if opened at all. - Even in meetings, people glance at their phones every few minutes. In this world, AI is both a blessing and a challenge. It helps us personalize, predict, and communicate at scale. But it also adds to the noise if we’re not intentional. The real opportunity is not just to “use AI.” It’s to use AI to earn attention—and then use human empathy to turn that attention into trust. Because deals aren’t won in inboxes or dashboards. They’re won in the moments when someone feels: - This brand understands me. - This person gets my world. That’s where technology ends and leadership begins. AI will replace sales!! I don't think so. In fact, sales will be one of the most human-driven functions in the years ahead. Yes, AI is reshaping the way we sell. It is helping us: Automate repetitive tasks, Prep for meetings faster, Track conversations better, Sharpen outreach But not not confuse efficiency with effectiveness. When the AI hype settles, companies will still search for salespeople who can think, connect, and influence. 👶 Last week, I became a father again. And it didn’t teach me something new, it confirmed what I’ve always known in sales and leadership: No matter how advanced technology becomes, human connection is irreplaceable. AI can prospect faster, write outreach quicker (although whether it’s better is debatable), and predict intent sharper than ever. But it can’t do the things that matter most: • Build trust • Show up when it counts • Care in a way that’s real As a dad, my son doesn’t need algorithms, he needs presence. In sales, customers don’t need automation. They need people they can trust, who are willing to listen and come up with solutions that truly solve their problems. The future isn’t AI vs human. It’s AI + human. Use the tools to cut the noise, help get to your outcomes quicker but double down on the relationships that last. 💡 My newborn reminded me…you can’t automate trust. And in sales, that’s still the ultimate differentiator.
