Telegram has become a double-edged sword — a powerful privacy tool but also a thriving hub for cybercrime. Criminal groups use its encrypted channels, bots, and file-sharing to run phishing campaigns, sell stolen data, distribute malware, and even organize ransomware and drug trafficking operations, often in front of massive audiences. Minimal moderation and fast channel re-spawns have made it a “Dark Web Lite,” though Telegram has started cooperating more with authorities. Still, its privacy-first features keep attracting both legitimate users and criminals, leaving regulators and security teams with the challenge of balancing safety and freedom. #Telegram #Cybercrime #DarkWebLite #Phishing #MalwareDistribution #Ransomware #DataLeak #Cybersecurity #PrivacyVsSecurity #ThreatIntelligence

🚨 BBC cyber reporter Joe Tidy recently revealed he was approached by the Medusa ransomware group and offered millions to hack his own employer. It’s a stark reminder that the human element remains one of the weakest links in cyber defence. For financial firms, insider threats are especially critical. Encouraging staff to report suspicious approaches, monitoring unusual access, and building a strong culture of vigilance can make all the difference. As cyber criminals grow bolder, prevention and preparation are the best defences. #CyberSecurity #FinancialCrime #InsiderThreat #Bcompliant
