Transformation and execution leader

There are people who have learned that digital product development is inherently uncertain (both in what to do and how to get it done) and people who have not, usually a factor of close-up, personal experience and a few lightbulb moments. Once you've grasped the reality of uncertainty, it changes your whole way of interacting with the process. How you plan, what plans mean, how you manage, how you react to emergence. And these behaviors enable the most effective product development because they turn uncertainty to advantage. But it’s not a realization most can be talked into. It has to be experienced. Data showing variance may be the best tool to that introduction. So if you’re looking to scent a trail to transformative change, figure out how to capture what’s supposed to happen and what is. Surface this variance on a regular, frequent cadence. And be ready to guide the response to questions that arise.

I love uncertainty and appreciate your point that we must experience uncertainty in product development to appreciate it. We are trying to make something out of nothing - it’s a very challenging and emergent process. It usually requires many minds. It’s beautiful and transformative when all that is harnessed.
