🤝 Global Partnerships Driving Innovation: Scaling Long-Duration Storage⚡️ 🔋 Dii’s Associated Partner Phoenix Contact is contributing its expertise in advanced automation and safety systems to support Endua, an Australian start-up developing modular hydrogen-powered energy storage systems. 💡Phoenix Contact’s control technology enables Endua to automate an integrated hydrogen energy storage solution designed for off-grid consumers, industries, and remote communities. 🔍 Zooming in: • Endua’s Hydrogen Power Bank is a modular system based on electrolysis using renewable energy. • Hydrogen is stored in transportable container units and later converted back into electricity via fuel cells. • Unlike conventional lithium-ion batteries, this allows for storage over several days, supporting a more resilient energy supply. 🌏 The first generation of test systems has already been developed and deployed in Australia for demonstration and testing. With Phoenix Contact’s global presence and technical support, these systems can be scaled internationally — paving the way for broader applications of long-duration storage solutions. 🔗 More details in the comments 👇

What if the energy from every step you take could be turned into electricity? Our demand for renewable energy keeps growing, and solutions will need to come from many directions. Energy-generating sidewalks show how even small, everyday actions can be part of that shift. A single step does not produce much, but in crowded places like airports or train stations the collective impact can be significant. Hundreds of people moving together can generate enough electricity to keep the lights on. It will not replace fossil fuels, but it shows how everyday actions can be reimagined as renewable energy. Innovation often begins by finding new uses for what is already around us. https://bcg.smh.re/Gni

https://lnkd.in/e-dsEzpB 🔋 When Batteries Meet Hydrogen: A New Hybrid Frontier in Clean Energy A Swiss company is pushing the envelope by combining battery systems + hydrogen technologies — marrying the advantages of both. The result? Enhanced flexibility, energy storage, and clean power solutions that respond to a wider range of applications. ⚙️ Key Takeaways • Batteries still dominate short-term storage and fast response; hydrogen adds high-density, long-duration capability • The hybrid combo can better smooth out renewables, enable deeper decarbonization, and improve grid resilience • Particularly promising for heavy industry, long-duration backup, microgrids, and remote power needs This is the kind of hybrid thinking we need in the Advanced Industrial Revolution — not “one size fits all” energy, but integrated architectures that leverage each technology’s strength. #Hydrogen #Batteries #EnergyStorage #CleanTech #Innovation #GridResilience #HybridEnergy

Liquid air powers green future The world's first commercial-scale liquid air energy storage facility is set to power up in the UK next year. Built by Highview Power near Manchester, the facility aims to accelerate the energy transition by storing excess renewable energy for later use. The process involves cooling and compressing air into liquid form, which is then re-expanded to drive turbines and generate electricity. Highview Power says the technology will help countries replace fossil fuels. Research suggests that liquid air energy storage holds strong potential as a solution for critically needed long-duration energy storage.

In Energy Storage... Diversity Matters. 💡 The necessity of modern grids is not just storage capacity, but the right type of storage for the right job. A singular approach to energy storage creates bottlenecks and severely limits system resilience. To ensure stability and reliability, we must strategically deploy solutions across all timeframes Very Short-Duration (Milliseconds to Minutes) Technologies like Supercapacitors (or Flywheels) provide instant power for frequency regulation, acting as the grid's immediate reaction force to maintain power quality. Short-Duration (Minutes to ~4 Hours) Lithium-ion batteries excel here, perfect for peak shaving, rapid system stabilization, and managing short-term energy arbitrage. Medium-Duration (~4 Hours to Days) This emerging category is critical for shifting renewables and filling gaps. Solutions include Flow Batteries, Pumped Thermal Storage, and certain advanced chemistries. Long-Duration (Days to Weeks/Months) These technologies are essential for multi-day reliability and seasonal balancing. They include established solutions like Pumped Hydro Storage (PHS), which dominates globally, alongside developing options like Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) and Green Hydrogen. The scale of the energy transition demands a full toolbox, not just a single hammer. We must champion the entire spectrum of energy storage innovation.
