🤝 Global Partnerships Driving Innovation: Scaling Long-Duration Storage⚡️ 🔋 Dii’s Associated Partner Phoenix Contact is contributing its expertise in advanced automation and safety systems to support Endua, an Australian start-up developing modular hydrogen-powered energy storage systems. 💡Phoenix Contact’s control technology enables Endua to automate an integrated hydrogen energy storage solution designed for off-grid consumers, industries, and remote communities. 🔍 Zooming in: • Endua’s Hydrogen Power Bank is a modular system based on electrolysis using renewable energy. • Hydrogen is stored in transportable container units and later converted back into electricity via fuel cells. • Unlike conventional lithium-ion batteries, this allows for storage over several days, supporting a more resilient energy supply. 🌏 The first generation of test systems has already been developed and deployed in Australia for demonstration and testing. With Phoenix Contact’s global presence and technical support, these systems can be scaled internationally — paving the way for broader applications of long-duration storage solutions. 🔗 More details in the comments 👇

⚡ We are testing new control strategies that make renewable energy integration more stable and reliable. 🔋 Balancing electricity supply and demand is increasingly complex as renewables grow. Under the leadership of professors Emilio Pérez Soler and Ignacio Peñarrocha-Alós, our group is developing predictive models and deep reinforcement learning algorithms to optimize how batteries participate in electricity markets, while new methods for estimating lithium-ion battery health help extend their lifetime. ☀️ We’ve also shown that renewable plants can stay connected longer through advanced control, reinforcing overall grid stability. The final experimental validation is now underway on our real-time testing platform. This project has also built collaborations with the UPV, Tyndall National Institute (Ireland), Virtual Vehicle Research GmbH (Austria), and companies Abervian | Product Engineering and HESStec (Hybrid Energy Storage Solutions Ltd). 🔗 Publications: https://lnkd.in/dNvGgKCz
