Ukrainian Armor has announced the launch of mass production of the UB60D unmanned aerial system. Chief Executive Officer Vladislav Belbas stated that serial production of the UB60D was deployed just one month after its codification. To date, more than 5,000 systems have already been manufactured. The UB60D has undergone testing in combat conditions on the frontline and has demonstrated good results. 🇺🇸🚁 California-based Elroy Air has chosen defense prime contractor Kratos Defense and Security Solutions to be the exclusive US manufacturer of its Chaparral cargo drone. The five-year strategic agreement aims to accelerate the anticipated large-scale manufacturing of the hybrid-electric autonomous vertical takeoff-and-landing system, with the first unit scheduled for production next year. Elroy Air CEO Andrew Clare said that Kratos is “an established and trusted producer of military UAS and unique in their manufacturing focus on affordability.” “We are thrilled to partner with Elroy Air to produce their industry-leading drone for the dual-use market,” said Steve Fendley, President of Kratos Unmanned Systems Division.

What will it take for drones to become the norm in air defense systems? Three Polish organizations have formed a strategic consortium to build what they claim is Europe’s first unmanned fighter aircraft designed to combat the growing threat of drones, drone swarms and loitering munitions on the modern battlefield. The IRYDA Plus project aims to craft a pilotless platform able to neutralize any drone in a cost-effective manner. The industry partners — trade company MBF Group S.A., consulting firm Squadron Sp. z o.o. and the technology-focused nonprofit Polish Industrial Lobby — launched the project on Sept. 15 to address the inadequacies of classic air defense systems, which struggle with swarm attacks, low-budget designs and resistance to interference. The IRYDA+ project is a component of the anti-drone system, designed to effectively combat drones, their swarms and circulating munitions. The technical assumptions include top speeds ranging from 250-280 km/h, payload capacity of 15-20 kg, and armament consisting of a carbine cal. 7.62 mm in a 360° rotating gondola. Skyborne has successfully completed its first C-UAS trials using the Cerberus MI platform in July 2025. Armed with the CHAOS 12Ga modular UXV weapon, Cerberus successfully downed four target UAS aircraft. The targeting system uses AI on the edge to automate parts of the fire control process. Drone warfare has reshaped the battlefield in Europe. Cheap FPV drones and loitering munitions are changing everything: ⚡ Multi-million-euro vehicles destroyed by $1K drones. ⚡ Heavy APCs are now too expensive to lose. ⚡ The new priority: affordable, adaptable, and easily replaceable troop carriers. Armored personnel carriers (APCs) were once judged by their weight of armor and tech sophistication. Today, they’re judged by how quickly they can be deployed, how easily they can adapt to anti-drone measures, and whether they can survive in a battlefield where the threat comes from above. This shift is forcing European armies to rethink: instead of a few “perfect” vehicles, they need many good-enough, adaptable carriers that protect troops without breaking budgets.
