The welcome dinner of VAC 2025 set the tone for the days ahead. Guests gathered in the heart of District 1, moving from the rhythms of the street into a pavilion space that brought Vietnam’s cultural and culinary richness to life. Phở cocktails and skewers opened the evening, followed by a celebration of street food and heritage – from food carts and traditional áo dài portraits to live sketching by Saigoneer illustrators, each creating bespoke postcards for our guests. Dinner, prepared by Đông Dương, reflected Vietnam’s regional diversity, from Huế cakes and Hanoi-style bún chả to a modern take on bánh mì. Conversation flowed as freely as the ambarella juice and local beer, anchored by welcome remarks that looked forward to the themes of the conference.
