Throwback Thursday! In the skies above California, Chairman & CEO Michael Stoltzfus piloted one of his all-time favorite aircraft—N38L, a Hamilton Westwind III—captured here in a moment that still stands out decades later. “N38L was more than just an airplane – she was a very special friend. I have about 1500 hours flying turboprop Beach 18s (Hamilton Westwind IIIs) and of that roughly half of that was in N38L. She required immense respect and constant attention. She was also an extraordinarily important airplane in the history of Dynamic Aviation. She remains to this day one of my two top favorite airplanes I’ve ever flown.” – Michael Stoltzfus For more on N38L’s history: https://lnkd.in/es-4qaaJ #ThrowbackThursday #AviationHistory #ClassicAircraft #HamiltonWestwind #Taildragger #AviationPhotography
Cool shot!
Aviation is just a bit of a small world. My father used to pick up wrecked aircraft and sell PT6A-20s to Karl, and also installed quite a few Satloc GPS systems in Los Alamitos in the late 90s. Even the sheet-metal brake I learned on was some sort of horse-trade between Karl and my father.
We had a Beech 18 in our Aviation Maintenance Technology program at #Hawkeye Institute of Technology...We used to practice radial engine run up training...engine oil leaks & all ! 😁✈️✈️✈️
Volpar was the original tricycle gear conversion, they also offered a TPE-331 mod.
