It is imperative that the value of immunisation against respiratory infections be recognized in the upcoming #CVH Plan. For people living with cardiovascular disease (CVD), respiratory infections can sharply raise the risk of: 🔺 Heart attacks 🔺 Strokes 🔺 Heart failure In 2022, 17,700 confirmed cases of invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) were reported in the EU — a reminder of how significant the burden remains. Immunisation against #flu, #RSV, #COVID19 or hashtag#pneumococcal disease can reduce the likelihood of cardiovascular events, ICU admissions and related mortality. As a doctor for 36 years, you can guess my opinion on these- I think they are risky, a waste of money, putting you at unnecessary risk of infection, allergy or anaphylaxis (and there have been deaths reported) and they cost a lot of money. We will NEVER offer these in our clinic. If you’re unwell, please see a registered medical doctor for a detailed consultation, assessment, examination and diagnosis, and treatment as needed. I put up countless IV’s during the many years I worked as a hospital doctor, and they can be life-saving in the proper setting, for infection, dehydration, sepsis, post op, and many other situations. For a private company to offer a €5 bag of iv fluids with some water-soluble vitamins in it, and charge you anywhere between €200-1000 per IV, in a non-medical setting is unsafe and unethical in my opinion and I would avoid these. #aestheticmedicine #dreithnebrenner #dublin
