Lincolnshire’s East Coast will be transformed next weekend with LIGHTWAVES, a two-night celebration of light, creativity and community spirit. Produced by SessionsArts and presented as part of Story Tellers, the South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership's Arts Council England NPO project, this free event will invite residents and visitors to experience a unique blend of illuminated art, live performance and storytelling across Chapel St Leonards and Sutton on Sea. On Friday 24 October, Chapel St Leonards will host a magical evening from 6pm to 8pm, beginning in the village centre and leading to the North Sea Observatory. A self-led Light Walk will follow the beachside path, with participants encouraged to bring their own lights to illuminate themselves and anything they bring along. The evening includes a fire garden installation in the village centre and an interactive UV fish tank by Earthbound Misfits at the Observatory. Local cafés, including Seascape Café, will be open for refreshments. The celebration continues on Saturday 25 October from 6pm to 9pm in Sutton on Sea, where the High Street will become a corridor of light and activity. The evening features illuminated installations, digital art, live performances and community-led celebrations. A highlight is the Lantern Parade at 6.30pm, led by local schoolchildren and community groups, featuring over 100 Joseph Banks-inspired lanterns and characters aboard the fictional SS Seaview. The parade ends at Seaview Colonnade with a participatory routine at 7pm. Visitors can also enjoy performances by Can Samba drummers, walkabout characters, and digital artworks including There Be Monsters by Electric Egg, MBD’s Infinite Museum VR experience, and LightWeight’s animated globe. Additional installations include inflatables by Designs in Air and the Henge light sculpture. Late-night shopping, craft stalls and food vendors will be available along the High Street. In the lead-up to the event, Lumo Workshop artists Nadya Monfrinoli and Lou Jones are delivering lantern-making workshops. These include closed sessions at Sutton on Sea Community Primary School and Chapel St Leonards Primary School, and public workshops at Seaview Colonnade on Tuesday 21 October (booking via Eventbrite by going to https://lnkd.in/ek5-W-af) and at the Methodist Church on Wednesday 22 October (drop-in). Participants will be invited to join the Lantern Parade on the Saturday evening. Continue reading...https://lnkd.in/e6B6Ccnn
