If you're heading to Groundswell Agriculture, drop us a note to meet up with CEO Eric J. Smith!
It’s finally happening… tomorrow! I’m headed to my very first Groundswell Agriculture Festival — a regenerative agriculture convening in the U.K., where farmers, food companies, and changemakers come together to explore the past, present, and future of farming and food. I'll be speaking in the Soil Health Tent at 10am on “Measuring Food Quality, Nutrition, and Health.” Joining me are two extraordinary voices: - Dr. David Unwin, renowned for using food—not pharma—to reverse chronic disease - Matthew Adams, whose GRFFN program is engaging farmers in citizen science to validate crop quality across the UK. I’m especially excited to catch up with our friends at Wildfarmed —and to share results from our first round of Edacious testing with the brilliant Edd Lees and Ria Kalantzis, which involved testing everything from farm gate samples to milled flour currently hitting the shelves of Sainsbury's and now Tesco! Let’s talk nutrient density. Let’s talk flavor, function, and food quality. If you’re at Groundswell, come find me—I'm ready to dig in 🤣 Note - this picture is highly inaccurate. It's currently 88 degrees in Hitchin and the UK is in the middle of a massive drought....and its only the start of July... I have so many thoughts about water cycles, droughts, heat waves. We still don't seem to be getting it. How do we get decision makers to understand that regenerative agriculture is essential for RESILIENT FARMING SYTEMS, NUTRITIONAL SECURITY and HEALTHY PEOPLE?!
