Insightful week in Brussels on offshore wind 💨💨 Fascinating (and encouraging) to see how the narrative around #offshorewind is broadening from being ‘just’ key for climate and competitiveness to actually becoming a pillar of Europe’s energy security . Offshore wind energy as part of the ‘#EUDefence’ toolbox is a relatively new message but a powerful one to be delivered to the market and industry to restore confidence in the investment case. The #NorthSeas ( and Baltic ?) can become the green engine of the EU economy and political and policy efforts must be urgently made to unlock that potential - which means: ⚡️multi stakeholders, regional infrastructure planning ⚡️Prioritising funding for offshore corridors ⚡️advancing research&innovation to optimise benefits - trade-off are inevitable but can be minimised, and we need to be all honest about it And finally full cooperation with like-minded partners - no policy barriers on clean #electricitytrading between GB and EU ; enhanced cooperation on supply chain and cyber/physical security among EU/UK/Norway.
