📢 New article in the OSCARS series! 𝗢𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 – 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 – 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗢𝗦𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗦 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺. Repositories are the backbone of Open Science: they preserve, manage, and share research outputs, and are corner stones to make them FAIR, and trustworthy. From Zenodo and GitHub to domain-specific infrastructures, repositories democratise (meta)data access and accelerate collaboration. The five Science Clusters (ENVRI community, ESCAPE, LS-RI, PaNOSC, SSHOC - Social Sciences and Humanities Open Cloud), through OSCARS and its funded projects, are further developing repository solutions into interoperable, FAIR-aligned infrastructures that integrate disciplines constraints and strengthen the European Open Science Cloud. 👉 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dnjUypxN #OpenScience #FAIRdata #ResearchInfrastructures #OpenResearch #OSCARSproject #EOSC

🌊 Blue-Cloud at the EOSC United Kick-off Blue-Cloud was featured as one of the first scientific use cases to demonstrate the capabilities of the EOSC EU Node, presented by Jonathan Tedds (ELIXIR). As part of the EOSC United kick-off discussions, it was highlighted how the Virtual Research Environment (VRE) supports #marinescience research through: 🔹 An Analytics Computing Framework with DataMiner and Cloud Computing Platform 🔹 RStudio and JupyterLab for collaborative workflows 🔹 A growing community of nearly 1,700 registered members This use case contributes to testing and showcasing the EOSC EU Node’s potential to: ✔ Deploy federated services across disciplines ✔ Enable multidisciplinary resource sharing and processing ✔ Advance the EOSC Federation towards long-term sustainability By connecting marine science to the wider EOSC ecosystem, Blue-Cloud demonstrates how federated services can power collaborative, cross-disciplinary research in Europe and beyond. #EOSC #BlueCloud #MarineScience #OpenScience

"The doctorate was supposed to be about discovery — what happened?" asks Sónia Cardoso, Assistant Professor and Researcher at Universidade Lusófona - Centro Universitário Porto, Portugal. "A doctorate today often means navigating bureaucracy, producing publishable results at high speed and proving your worth on metrics that rarely reflect the quality of your thinking. Ask any current candidate — many will tell you the same thing: burnout is common, isolation is real and the question of ‘What comes next?’ looks like a storm cloud." In her article for #EUACDE's Doctoral Debate, Sónia Cardoso says we must reclaim the doctorate as a space of critical thinking, care and epistemic plurality and challenge current systems that value compliance over creativity. University of California, Davis research funding slipped below $1B for the first time in three years, hitting $961M, but the real concern isn’t the dip, it’s the looming federal cuts that could reshape projects in medicine, ag, and tech. Vice Chancellor Simon Atkinson told me, “There is no substitute for the federal partnership when it comes to research in the broad public interest.” My latest for the Sacramento Business Journal breaks down what’s at stake for California’s innovation ecosystem. 👉 LINK: https://lnkd.in/gr9FX9Qp #UCDavis #ResearchInnovation #HigherEd #FederalFunding #California #SciencePolicy #SacramentoBusinessJournal #EconomicDevelopment #ChrisCampbell

🎉I'm super happy to announce that our paper "Point Cloud Synthesis Using Inner Product Transforms" has been accepted at NeurIPS 2025! #NeurIPS2025 ✨TL;DR:✨ We propose a novel method for generating point clouds by faithfully representing them as images through the use of the Inner Product Transform (IPT), inspired by the Euler Characteristic Transform. 📜 The IPT is an injective image representation for point clouds, meaning it fully captures the point cloud into a single image. The idea is to project a point cloud along multiple directions and which allows us to represent it as an image. We show that we can recover the original point cloud with a machine learning model as well as a simple optimization scheme. With this novel latent representation, we view point cloud generation as a pure image generative task, allowing us to use *any* image generation model to generate novel point clouds. Training times are greatly reduced and inference times become much faster making our method very scalable! We hope this work will inspire more multi-modal models with topological transforms. There is lots of potential for extensions to graphs and higher order data! Huge thanks to Bastian Grossenbacher-Rieck for the guidance and for both being an amazing professor and a great collaborator! Looking forward to see you all in San Diego in December!
