📁 Our HaDEA Project Briefs series highlights some of the innovative projects in our portfolio. Today we feature ORU-BOAS, an #EUFunded project that developed modular building blocks to make satellites easier to assemble, repair and upgrade directly in orbit. The project designed Orbital Replacement Units (ORUs); standardised, plug-in satellite modules that can be swapped or serviced by robotic systems. By validating this concept through three prototypes, ORU-BOAS has paved the way for sustainable in-space operations and services, where spacecraft can be reused, upgraded and maintained instead of replaced. This modular approach supports Europe’s strategic autonomy in space, strengthens its capacity to act in orbit, and contributes to the EU’s goal of building a sustainable in-space economy. 👉 Swipe through to see how it works 📲 Learn more: — Visit the project website: https://oru-boas.eu — Read the CORDIS article: https://lnkd.in/egRw3eRE #HorizonEU #EUSpace #EUSpaceResearch #HaDEAProjectBriefs #ISOS ORU-BOAS | EU Space | Jose Javier Viñals Abelan | Sener Aerospace & Defence | Thales Alenia Space | German Aerospace Center (DLR) | ISISPACE Group | EASN-Technology Innovation Services
