Keep your E4 Mafia close and in good standing.

Learning is never free. Learning is something you choose to do, not done to you. You learning from all experience; yours, the good, the bad, the simulated, and the fictitious - keep the useful stuff and dump the rest.

Leadership isn’t recognized by being a good scrounger. Leadership is exuded the second you walk on the scene. Others tend to gravitate toward people who have the self confidence that leaders demonstrate by their actions in public.

Issue I have with memes like this is I don't have "leadership" experience in the way that most people define it. I didn't have the rank, but if there was a possible better way than I'd work to influence the decision maker with the pro's and con's of what I was trying to change (worked often enough that I didn't stop.) Also, was an excellent scrounger. If we needed parts when other units were going through MTOE changes, I'd get permission from the XO and my Sgt. and call around to units losing that equipment with a list from the MP or platoons and "horse trade" over the phone with those units for either parts or the entire item and then take a pumpkin/cinimon pie to the S-4 (he loved it) and give him the contact information plus almost completed paperwork to formally bring the items to our unit. And don't get me started on the DRMO. I was probably the only E-4 allowed to take the XO's softtop there every friday with blank documents to transfer anything useful from 1pm to 2:30 pm before items got auctioned. I have skills, but more of an influencer and doer rather than an actual leader.
