An interesting case which focuses on the relationship between a client and a private bank offering investment services. Here a relationship manager mentioned (and without recommending) an investment in a fund and informed the client that the fund was not a bank's recommendation. The client sought to prove that because the relationship manager worked for the bank, used the bank's email and subsequently said that this was his favourite pick for the year ahead, so the bank was liable for any losses. In the event the fund was shown to be a massive fraud and all investment was assumed to be lost. The bank's arguments prevailed on all counts in the final judgement in the Singapore High Court.
