Kuper’s essay convincingly argues that deep reading remains the most powerful antidote to ideological oversimplification, and that carving out screen free, reflective moments fuels creative connections. Drawing on examples from Darwin’s critical self scrutiny to Doudna’s gardening insights, the piece reminds us that intellectual overcapacity depends on habits of curiosity, empirical rigor and multidisciplinary exploration rather than innate genius. By urging us to assume we might be wrong and to learn from every encounter, the article inspires a more open minded and sustained approach to thinking.
