5 JOB INTERVIEW RED FLAGS YOU SHOULD NEVER IGNORE 👀 🚩 “We’re like a family here” ↳ I don't know about you Geoff, but I don't pay my family (and I don't fire them either) 🚩 “We work hard and play hard” ↳ An innocent sign of a high performance culture, OR a translation of 'unpaid overtime will be expected' - proceed with caution 🚩 "We haven't got a written job description yet" ↳ If it's this chaotic before you join, what will it be like once you're through the door? 🚩 Any use of "ninja", "guru" or "rockstar" ↳ Hard to explain, but these words do NOT pass the vibe check 🚩 'Benefits' like "fun team" and "free fruit" ↳ Seriously? You may as well be saying "We don't know what benefits actually are, and we also don't know what candidates actually want" Did we miss any?
“We’re like a family here” oh, did you guys have a punch up at your grandma's funeral too?
Uncomfortable looks from the interview panel when asking about what the culture is like - back away slowly and shut the door.
The fruit🙈i once saw that "the business trips are paid by the company"...well duh😅they said it was a perk😍🤣
So true. Gets me when they list employment laws as benefits, such as annual leave and lunch breaks.
A new word I’m seeing a lot (like almost every job description, a lot) in place of rockstar and guru, is powerhouse 🥴
Every time I see a recruiter posting that they’re looking for “a superstar” to join their team, I want to scream 🙄🙄
We are family here, always gets me. Ive been there and not so family deep down. Employers are employers not friends, not family. Perks should be perks not something with a compromise the other end
Off the top of my head, how about : "Must be able to handle stress" and " Must be able to wear multiple hats"= you're going to be burnt out and do the job of 5 people And the one that grates me the most... " competitive salary" = we don't have a clue what we're doing but won't give anything away until we've heard what your expectations are, then we'll see if you're worth it .

5dSpot on! The 'family' line always feels like a setup for blurred boundaries and burnout.
