Help nudge us towards bowling victory!   Our team, Split Happens, is fundraising for the 12th annual Workers’ Bowl on Saturday, November 16, 2024—an annual charity event run collaboratively by the Ontario Employment Education & Research Centre (OEERC) and the Workers’ Action Centre. All funds raised will directly benefit racialized, immigrant and low-wage workers in precarious jobs through: - Training: Funding the annual training program run by the Workers' Action Centre. - Internships: Funding the work of these workers as they develop skills in community outreach, public education, and rights in the workplace. - Education: ESL classes that focus on workplace rights language. - Organizing: Infiltrating our communities through media, outreach, and online programs. All of this is done in Mandarin, Bengali, Punjabi, Somali, Spanish, and Tamil. Can you believe it?! Your $5 investment can help 6 young men graduate college. Hey family! As most of you all know, I am one of the founders of a 501 c3 non-profit called Food 4 Thought. Food 4 Thought is a four-year mentorship initiative aimed at helping Black and Brown young men graduate from college. We currently have 6 mentees and want to double that number next year. We strive to help them start their college journey by excelling academically, personally, and professionally. This means avoiding academic probation, building healthy relationships—including a positive relationship with themselves—and positioning them to secure internships early on. Part of our mission also includes providing financial support because we all know that worrying about how to afford books, a new laptop, or spending money to socialize can interfere with success in college.
