It is nothing short of disastrous to reach the year 2025 and still witness new products being launched without any meaningful integration of artificial intelligence. In an era where AI has become the driving force of innovation, the absence of such capabilities not only diminishes the value of a product but also leaves it lagging behind the competition. What makes matters worse is the inclusion of superficial features that serve no real purpose, turning the user experience into a hollow showcase rather than a tool that empowers and fulfills genuine needs. Last week’s #WeltAISummit was a strong signal on AI moving from hype to strategic maturity. It is clearly no longer a future promise but a present imperative. Thanks to Axel Springer and PREMIUM-GRUPPE for curating a sharp and diverse program. It was energizing to exchange with innovators, policymakers, and leaders across industries. From European sovereignty to global competition, the discussions tackled the real questions: How do we scale AI responsibly? Where does regulation help – or hinder – innovation? What does strategic AI adoption look like beyond pilots and prototypes? Hearing Sam Altman reinforced a key principle: deeper reasoning only matters when it improves decisions, products, and operations. That is the bar at tesa. Across panels and powertalks, several themes emerged that strongly resonate with our own AI journey: 🔹 AI is shifting from experimentation to operational impact. The conversation has matured. It’s no longer about isolated pilots, but about embedding AI into core workflows – from supply chains to customer experience. 🔹 Decision intelligence is the new frontier. The real value of AI lies in its ability to enhance strategic and tactical decisions. This confirms our internal shift from process automation to capability transformation. 🔹 Regulation must be enabling, not limiting. There was consensus that Europe must define its own path – balancing trust, sovereignty, and innovation. This aligns with our approach to responsible AI at scale. 🔹 Business models will evolve. AI is not just a tool – it’s a catalyst for rethinking how value is created and delivered. The summit validated our belief that AI must be tied to business reinvention, not just efficiency. 🔹 Human-centric AI is non-negotiable. Empowering people – not replacing them – was a recurring theme. At tesa, we see AI as a multiplier of human expertise, not a substitute. These insights didn’t just inform – they validated the direction we’ve taken: Enable every team to use AI confidently and responsibly – from shopfloor data to R&D to customer insights. Skills first.
