On the CRANDIC Iowa River Bridge in Amana, Iowa, crews placed a 4,000 PSI fiber reinforced mix in the pier caps to handle heavy, daily freight loads. In this clip, concrete vet David Swanson walks through the workflow on site: slow, controlled pumping to manage head pressure, vibration for full consolidation inside heavily reinforced forms, and a clean finish once the caps were struck. Field feedback was consistent across pours. Fibers dispersed evenly with no balling. Pumping through dense steel rebar was predictable. Surface visibility of fibers was minimal, leaving a smooth finish. In a preliminary test pour, 7-day cylinders came in about 1,000 psi higher than typical at the plant, reinforcing what crews saw in the field. What may appear to be a minor threat to steel and concrete transmission structures—like small cracks, surface corrosion, or perforation—can quickly evolve into major implications for system #reliability, safety, and costs. It's the subtle signs that tell the biggest story that we see in the field everyday. Proactive #resiliency programs are essential for preventing unplanned outages, costly emergency repairs, and accelerated asset degradation. Downcomers have a critical role in the hydraulic of the towers/columns with tray. The route of liquid from the top of the towers/columns to the bottom of them is possible through the downcomers. "Various Types", "Sealing Techniques" and "Dimension" of them could be found in the below file. #Downcomer #DavoodProcess To view or add a comment, sign in

What's the right fix for a live pipeline leak: a quick clamp or a permanent composite wrap? Our very own Chandre Venter, is answering that question in an upcoming article. He's going to dive into the key differences, including: • Whether the repair can be applied to a live system or if a shutdown is needed. • The temperature and pressure range each solution can handle. • How to choose a solution that provides the necessary structural reinforcement. • The expected service life for each method, from temporary fixes to solutions that can last for the asset's lifetime. Keep an eye out for the full breakdown coming soon. This short video uses a simple expirement to explain the process of joining elements in an Immersed Tube Tunnel (ITT). In an ITT construction, sections are prefabricated, sealed with bulkheads, floated to site, and precisely aligned in a dredged trench. Joint formation ensures watertight continuity between segments, typically using a flexible rubber gasket compressed between adjoining ends. Once aligned, hydraulic jacks push the new section toward the installed one, initiating gasket deformation. To aid this process, the basic principle of suction pressure is applied by pumping out trapped water between the elements. This creates a vacuum in the annular space between segments, reducing resistance and allowing easier gasket compression. The process also minimizes jack force, protecting the gasket, and ensures a uniform, watertight seal before final grouting. This approach ensures structural integrity and long-term durability of the tunnel. 📹: Lesics 🔄: Interesting? Like & Repost for Others Check Muhammad A. Frozen temps, active traffic, and a leaking pipeline 20 feet underground? No problem. ✅ The Challenge: 8" ductile iron pipeline creating dangerous ice conditions under a busy service road ✅ The Risk: Heavy equipment and staff safety compromised during winter operations ✅ The Solution: Primus Line® sliplining through multiple bends without shutting down traffic Our team positioned access pits outside the active roadway, navigating complex pipeline bends to eliminate the leak while keeping operations running smoothly. When safety can't wait and downtime isn't an option, trenchless technology delivers. #TrenchlessTechnology #PipelineRehabilitation #IndustrialSafety #PrimusLine #WinterWork #CriticalInfrastructure #AdvantageReline To view or add a comment, sign in
