China can feel overwhelming — 30+ provinces, thousands of factories, and no clear starting point. That’s why Yiwu has become the largest trading hub in the world. It’s not just a market, it’s the showroom of China: Meet manufacturers and suppliers from across the country. Connect with sourcing agents who simplify deals and quality control. Tap into global logistics networks that can move your products anywhere in the world. For the Caribbean, this is the starting point to doing business in China. You don’t have to figure it out province by province — you start in Yiwu, build the right connections, and from there, the entire Chinese market opens up. If this is your last season in China, don’t waste it. This is your best chance to capture the details that make your supply chain work—the BOMs, specs, subcomponents, and tribal knowledge that disappear once the factory stops answering your calls. Too many brands try to move and document at the same time which can multiply mistakes. If changing your geography is on the horizon (or even a possibility), use this season to future-proof. You’ll thank yourself when the next supplier isn’t starting from guesswork. We wrote a short, practical guide for brands asking, “Could you move in a month if you had to?” If the answer is no, it’s worth a read: 📘 https://buff.ly/SnPirmY #supplychain #manufacturing #china #sourcing #operations

Your client asks you to ship a product from Point A to Point B. A simple logistics task, right? Not when Point B is China. A client recently tasked me with procuring a very specific, high-end matcha for shipment to mainland China. On the surface, a straightforward project. But a single verification call in Japanese to the supplier uncovered a critical, industry-wide roadblock. Due to a significant tightening of import regulations, this major vendor had made a firm policy decision: they no longer ship to China. The risk of customs rejection was simply too high. The initial plan had failed. This is where my role shifts from agent to strategic advisor. The problem was no longer "how to ship this tea." The real, more important questions became: 1. How do we first establish a "gold standard" for the quality the client is looking for? 2. How do we then build a completely new, sustainable supply chain that CAN navigate China's new regulatory landscape? We immediately pivoted to a two-phase strategic plan: ✅ PHASE 1: ESTABLISH THE BENCHMARK. We are shipping the original matcha to an alternative address (the US). The goal is not just to deliver a product, but to confirm if this is the true quality benchmark the client needs for their brand. ✅ PHASE 2: BUILD THE SUSTAINABLE SUPPLY CHAIN. Once the benchmark is set, we will launch a targeted search for a different, scalable supplier with a proven track record of successfully shipping to China under the new rules. The best solution isn't always to solve the problem as it's first presented. It's to redefine the problem and create a smarter, phased approach that mitigates risk and ensures long-term success. What is the most unexpected regulatory challenge you have ever faced in international trade? Your trusted, on-the-ground partner for matcha in Japan. Zheng He’s Voyages & Modern China Sourcing 600 years ago, Chinese explorer Zheng He led great voyages across the seas—from Southeast Asia to India, and even Africa.
