This is spot on—and something I see often with clients. The irony is that the very tools meant to boost efficiency can easily create friction: constant switching, redundant admin work, and fragmented attention. One powerful shift I’ve seen is using automation not just for speed, but for clarity—automating repetitive tasks frees up mental space, not just time. It’s about designing systems that let people focus on meaningful, high-impact work.
This is a great article and should be shared with leadership teams to assist in strengthing.

Interesting article and this ties in with the Gallup Employee engagement survey, which suggests we are losing £372billion globally through lost productivity due to poor engagement, and could better from £5.7 trillion in improved revenue if staff were engaged fully. This is a cultural issue within organisations and managers are the biggest contributor to disengagement. In addition, technology is often poorly defined and therefore creates as many issues as it resolves. I see this all the time in my job and it appears that it isn’t industry or sector immune.
Focus and consistency.
Micro Management, work all day and achieve plenty of production but no gratitude, One minor error or missed detail and it is picked up on.
Thanks for sharing. Productivity is how you define it. It's target oriented and when you meet your target, means you are productive. It starts with daily tasks performed and throughout the year. Monitoring and evaluation on quartly basis can keep you on track. "Stick to the plan!"
Great insights! Fully agree.
