𝟐𝐃 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟑𝐃 𝐢𝐧 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 Many companies still work with separate systems. This often leads to inconsistent data, duplicate work, and hidden sources of error. With an integrated 2D/3D CAD system, these problems disappear. Changes made in 3D are automatically reflected in the 2D drawings, and any inconsistencies become immediately visible. This streamlined approach saves time, simplifies workflows, and allows customer requests to be implemented more flexibly. Potential errors are detected earlier — avoiding costly rework and improving overall project reliability. The result is a more efficient, consistent, and cost-effective design process. Precision Reverse Engineering for Van Customization. Our latest QUICKSURFACE workflow demonstrates how to transform complex scan data into fully defined CAD geometry — ready for design and manufacturing. In this case study, a van’s interior was scanned, reconstructed, and prepared for panel and storage system design. The QUICKSURFACE plug-in for SOLIDWORKS made it easy to align, edit, and parametrize the model directly inside the CAD environment. 📽 Watch the full process here: https://lnkd.in/euZwajCv Scan data courtesy of Marc-Antoine Hejnal – TRISKAN (www.triskan.fr), 3D Scan Specialist & SCANOLOGY Reseller, France. #3DScanning #ReverseEngineering #SOLIDWORKS #VanConversion #SurfaceModeling #Manufacturing #EngineeringDesign #QUICKSURFACE

Clean CAD fail more often than you think. The shop floor exposed what CAD never warned me about. In Solid Edge, I can make any assembly look clean. ➥Perfect connections. Clean alignments. No rebuild errors. But here’s what years in machining and fabrication really taught me: ➢ A “perfect” CAD hole can turn into hours of rework if the drill size doesn’t match what’s actually in the shop. ➢ Welds that look reachable on screen often aren’t once the torch handle meets steel. ➢ Tolerances that read fine in the model can stack up into impossible fits on the floor. CAD doesn’t lie. It just hides the truth you don’t know to look for. That’s why simulation, shortcuts, and even the cleanest models only go so far. Real manufacturable design comes from blending experience with the tools CAD tells you what should happen, but the shop teaches you what will happen. And if you miss that? Your clean model fails. What’s the one real-world lesson that changed how you design in CAD forever? #engineering #cad #solidworks #solidedge #dfm #machinery #designformanufacturability #projektdesign #sheetmetal #mechanicalengineering #manufacturing #automotive

Cosmetic Threads might look impressive in your CAD model — but when it’s time to manufacture, they can cause real issues. ⛔ In this week’s Proto Tech Tip, Chris breaks down: • Why Cosmetic Threads are visual only and can distort DXFs and flat patterns • How to model holes correctly at the tap drill diameter • When to use threaded holes vs. self-clinching fasteners If you’re designing sheet metal parts or enclosures, this is one you don’t want to miss. 🎥 Watch the video to make sure your next design is clean, accurate, and production-ready. https://lnkd.in/eiEwNATS #ProtoTechTip #SolidWorks #CADDesign #SheetMetalDesign #EngineeringDesign #DesignForManufacturing #MechanicalEngineering
