The Horizon Media x Google AI Hackathon wasn’t your average brainstorming session—it was a full-blown data-powered premiere. Designed to decode the ever-shifting world of entertainment marketing, “Hacking the Screen” brought together top student minds from Columbia, Cornell, NYU, and beyond to predict box office hits using AI, sentiment analysis, and a whole lot of hustle.
As Bob Lord said, it was about “solving real-world business challenges with real-time data.”
And in the words of Domenic Venuto: “AI isn’t just for coders—it’s a symphony of perspectives.”
Why entertainment? Because it’s fast, fun, and ferociously relevant.
What’s next? Retail. Because innovation never sleeps—and neither do we.

Just wrapped up a great day here in New York City at our first ever Horizon and Google Hackathon. One word, wow. We couldn't be more excited about what we saw today. It was really tremendous. Learning something new and being able to apply to the real world in the future is just something amazing and something that's like you can't put a value on it. Today was a testament of how by bringing technology and intelligence with innovation from these young minds can be shaping the world of advertising and future of marketing. It's been a day hacking all around the the. Concept of predicting movie going behavior tying that to revenue another KPI's we've taken lots of eager data scientists and marketers from college campuses and we're asking them to solve historically really difficult marketing problems and we've challenged them to come up and use Google tools to actually reach those consumers in different and unique ways I never thought about how we can use multiple AI agents in succession to create a really fleshed out project and. Pipeline to apply to really anything but marketing, especially with our project, having AI models that can execute certain tasks based off like what's happening, knowing what each specific case is gonna be beforehand. You can have in a model or a I just react to it in the moment and make a decision based off that. I think that's what excites me the most. Having this technology being accessible to all just kind of helps build confidence, but also builds curiosity. And that's the biggest thing we can get different types of questions from different perspectives of folks. How to solve a problem. It was really inspiring. The creativity, the energy, the enthusiasm, just the native way that they interact with technology opens U whole new areas of thought and solutions. Being a part of this hackathon, some of the most exciting parts of it were getting to work with people and experience these time constraints on these complicated problems and getting to put them into a perspective that we're able to actually pitch to. Of people in a real world kind of setting. These are real solutions that we can bring back to our clients. So this was a success. The thing that excites me the most about AI is that it gives you possibilities to anything you would have never imagined what's possible. I think humans are really good at pattern matching and pattern recognition. But you know, with the help of computers, you could be even more powerful. It's so important for companies like Rizon Media and Google to partner together and bring innovation. Students, people this early in their career, there are the future innovators of the industry. We need them to invent boldly if we want AI to give the results that we wanted to have. And so I want the students to take things with them as they go home. And I want them to be thinking, what can I do to be ahead of the game and how can I invent boldly with Google AI?
Amazing to see the innovation coming out of this event. The next generation is already pushing boundaries—congrats to Synth Solutions and all the students who participated. Excited to see where this kind of creative thinking takes the industry.
