My family's history in agriculture, ranching, and land management taught me to prioritize sustainability long before it was widely recognized. Today, even as I work in technology, I see clear connections between these values and the work #HPE is doing—such as powering facilities with renewable and low-carbon energy. True sustainability in tech begins long before data centers are even built: it starts with a clear data strategy. Good data management enhances efficiency, improves model accuracy, and lowers resource consumption. By combining effective software with efficient equipment, we lay the groundwork for addressing AI’s sustainability challenge and safeguarding our future. #HPEAI #HPEHPC #HPESustainability

AI's Power Surge is Sucking Power Grids Dry Every day, we read about breakthroughs in AI, cloud, and automation, while also seeing headlines about record heat and resource strain. With companies becoming more cognizant of the need for more sustainable solutions within supply chain, we as technology leaders should also be considering from an IT standpoint. Tech can either accelerate the problem or be part of the solution. I found this article interesting as a reminder that we need to approach sustainability from all angles. Here are a few ideas that stood out to me: 1. Sustainable tech is a twofold imperative Technology consumes immense energy, but it’s also our greatest tool to drive efficiency, traceability, and climate action. The question isn’t, “Can we build it?”, but rather, “How do we build it better?”. 2. Efficiency is the new innovation Consolidate systems, cut data waste, and rethink cloud migration, etc. Not every workload needs to live in the cloud. Smart efficiency creates both environmental and business value. 3. “Digital” is physical Every app, every refresh, every data point has a carbon cost. From manufacturing to storage, sustainability starts with intentional design and lightweight digital experiences. 4. Culture creates impact This isn’t just an IT initiative, adopting eco-friendly habits is for everyone. Educating teams, rewarding green habits, and being mindful of how we use tech daily builds momentum for real change. Sustainability isn’t about perfection; it’s about progress. Every architectural choice, every product decision, and every mindful click can help us build a digital economy that works with the planet versus against it.

For the first time ever, I’ve seen sustainability land on the C-suites desk. LCA and Emissions compliance specifically stated a 10k (Deere) 𝘎𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘢𝘸𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘤𝘺𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘴, 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘳𝘢𝘸 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘦, 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘦, 𝘶𝘴𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘢𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦. Their investments in R&D are focused on electrification and operational efficiency to drive time to value, customer insight and customer impact. R&D budgets are climbing as companies hunt for future growth while compliance is set to compound YoY (yes even in the current administration). Sectors are pouring billions into innovation, but big bets only matter if you can turn compliance, sustainability, and productivity into clear ROI. 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰𝘀/𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀: AI-optimized chips, AR/VR, IoT, quantum computing, CHIPS Act–backed fabs. 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲/𝗠𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Solid-state EV batteries, electric powertrains, AI-driven autonomy, lightweight recycling. 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝘀 & 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀: Bio-based “drop-in” chemicals, circular-economy recycling, AI-optimized processes, energy-efficient manufacturing. 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮/𝗕𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵: mRNA vaccines, cell & gene therapies, oncology breakthroughs, AI-accelerated drug discovery. Integrating upstream environmental criteria into R&D to drive innovation and compliance simultaneously is now being demanded by leadership. Siloed, inconsistent and understanding impact of data too late in the process is reducing competitive advantage. AI is closing the gaps, amplifying (not replacing) human expertise. If interested in learning how to integrate AI for LCA and turn R&D and compliance into leverage, here you go. https://lnkd.in/gPp28ZMm
