The largest technology companies are investing more than 300 billion U.S. dollars this year to build the physical foundation of artificial intelligence. They are constructing data centers, producing advanced chips, and securing new power supplies to support what they view as the next great phase of global growth. The scale of this investment rivals some of the most ambitious industrial projects in history and reflects a belief that artificial intelligence will become as essential as electricity or the internet. Sceptics warn of a bubble and hope to later claim they saw it coming (maybe they want to be a character in a movie about a crash?), but the signs of mania are absent. Balance sheets remain strong, profits are solid, and capital allocation is deliberate rather than reckless. These investments are expressions of conviction, not speculation. Artificial intelligence is already transforming industries from healthcare to design and enterprise productivity. As innovation drives progress, global equities will continue to be the main source of returns in diversified portfolios, powered by growth, ingenuity, and compounding corporate strength.
