Let’s see how we can improve reporting on the Soutshide!
Mirror Indy is hiring a reporter to cover Indy's southside. The position, one of three neighborhood reporters, is a critical part of our newsroom’s focus on serving communities who have traditionally been ignored or forgotten by the media. The southside reporter will focus primarily on Decatur, Franklin and Perry townships, which are home to immigrant populations that often have not seen themselves reflected in the news, including Burmese and Sikh communities. The south side is also home to rural life and the communities of Beech Grove, Southport and Homecroft. If you’re interested, apply here: https://lnkd.in/gviKYnFk

📢 Our team is recruiting a Media Relations and Communications Officer! Salary - 35k. 📢 The job was just recently held by Claire Penketh FRSA MBCS who I’m proud to say has moved into a senior policy engagement role in the team. So you can still benefit from her advice as well as the experience of Amanda Matheson and Daniel Aldridge MBCS 😊 You’ll ideally have some experience of writing and ‘selling in’ stories to journalists (we speak to national tech and education correspondents – as well as IT industry publications). You might be a current or recent journalist. You might be working in a PR role where you’re already a good writer creating press releases and evidence based pitches that have led to news coverage and stakeholder engagement. What will I be writing about and promoting? Anything from the diversity gap in tech, to policy changes in computing education, to technical insights on AI or quantum cryptography. We are the professional body for IT; this is a great role for someone who loves seeing stories about the transformational power of computing (and its challenges) appearing in external media. A key part of the job is translating policy insight and research reports into concise content - and that includes social media posts and briefings, as well as news stories. You’ll get to work with some of our brilliant expert members to ensure their knowledge of tech issues reaches the mainstream. The graphic below shows Dr Sam De Silva on Newsnight talking about the need to review how computer evidence is treated by the courts, in the wake of the Post Office scandal. #technology #PR #Media [If you’d like to be part of what we're doing, please see the link in the comments below ↘

⬇ I've worked at PitchBook as a senior reporter (Dear, PR: No shameless pitches permitted!) for all of three months. They've been some of the best yet. PitchBook people, consummate pros, all—from us Newsies to The Normals—care. They care a whole lot. They 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘶𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘭𝘺 care about me (could be you :) on both a professional and a personal level. In my notably unbiased opinion—journalists have zero opinions, remember—we, a tight-knit team, punch well above our weight. We nail timely trends, backing trend stories up with the most robust private market alts data on the planet. Perhaps in the universe. We land scoops that move the needle. And, if a cliche it may be, we work smart, hard and together. We just get the ins and out, ups and down of complex, opaque markets about as well as ~industry participants~ (call out this jargon in my next scoop.) You get paid for obtaining a bootstrapped MBA, as well as one helluva' crash course in sensitive sourcing building, plus the know-how to write and edit with both deep subject matter expertise and a dash of literary flair. A bad deal this is not. Feel free to DM or email me with questions: [email protected] P.S. PitchBook people >>> Pierpoint people. If you get the reference without Googling, congrats; you have won one (1) free pitch.
PitchBook's news team is hiring a senior editor on our production (copy) desk, based either in San Francisco or Seattle. This is an exciting opportunity for a team player who wants to excel in financial journalism. Join us! https://lnkd.in/gBbdBMFX
