SIF, the new product introduced by SEBI in MF domain has several unique features. It will provide an opportunity to those millions of Indian investors who wanted to make money from FnO markets but lost heavily due to lack of knowledge and expertise. The SIF allows participation in derivatives up to 25% through expertise of Fund managers of AMCs. Indiabulls Asset Management Company, now operating as Groww AMC, has resolved a long-standing regulatory case with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) by paying INR 1.43 crore. The case relates to alleged violations of Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) regulations dating back to 2017, including pledging scheme assets for loans, not adhering to investment concentration limits, and misrepresenting financial information. The settlement was reached without admitting or denying the findings, allowing the company and its schemes to move past regulatory scrutiny while complying with SEBI’s requirements. The Average Assets Under Management (AAUM) of the domestic mutual fund industry grew by 16.16% on a yearly basis for the period ended Aug 2025. On a monthly basis, the same declined by 0.38%. Contribution of growth oriented equity-based schemes remained the maximum at 54.57% followed by debt-oriented schemes and liquid schemes which contributed 14.76% and 13.04% respectively. Growth/equity oriented schemes contributed the most to the AAUM across variousstates. The contribution of equity-oriented schemes was the most in Ladakh which stood at 90.82% followed by Lakshadweep for which contribution of equity-oriented schemes stood at 83.32%. Postmen as Mutual Fund Distributors – A Big Step Towards Financial Inclusion In a landmark move to deepen financial inclusion, AMFI (Association of Mutual Funds in India) has partnered with India Post to train 1 lakh postmen as certified mutual fund distributors. This initiative will start with a pilot program across four states – Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Meghalaya, aiming to bring mutual fund access to the remotest parts of the country. Postmen will undergo specialized training and clear the NISM certification exam, enabling them to educate and assist people in investing wisely. With India Post’s extensive grassroots network and the trust they’ve built over decades, this initiative has the potential to bridge the gap between financial products and rural households, where awareness and access are still limited. This collaboration also includes a 3-year MoU, allowing post offices to facilitate KYC verification, making the investment process seamless and convenient. As mutual fund folios in India have grown from 2.1 crore in 2019 to 5.6 crore today, this step will accelerate the next wave of growth—especially in smaller towns and rural areas. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has concluded its investigation into allegations raised by Hindenburg Research against the Adani Group. In its final order, SEBI has found no evidence of wrongdoing and dismissed the claims of fund routing, improper related-party transactions, or misrepresentation in financial statements. The regulator noted that the transactions under review did not fall within the definition of related-party transactions at the time they occurred, that loans were duly repaid with interest, and that there was no diversion of funds. With this, SEBI has formally closed proceedings on the matter and held that the allegations were unsubstantiated. This outcome is significant not only for the Adani Group but also for India’s corporate and regulatory landscape. It reinforces the importance of due process, regulatory scrutiny, and the evolving nature of compliance standards in dynamic markets. It will be interesting to observe how this clarity impacts investor sentiment, capital flows, and the global perception of India’s corporate governance environment in the months ahead.
