Together with Earth Journalism Network and Internews, we are organising a workshop on 17 September to deepen the understanding of climate risk perceptions and enhance their capacity for effective #climaterisk communication. Through interactive discussions and presentations, participants will be informed on the key drivers behind public perceptions of climate risk and why these views matter in driving individual action and influencing systemic change. In addition, the workshop will discuss challenges and opportunities in climate risk #media reporting, including building #trust, monitoring response and amplifying voices of those most affected. This workshop is held in conjunction with NUS Sustainability CONNECT, which showcases the university's #sustainability efforts in research and innovation, education, campus operations and student engagement. *"Development without environmental responsibility is no longer an option — it’s a warning.* As part of my ongoing academic journey, I’ve been exploring the *relationship between economic development and environmental sustainability*, particularly how *greenhouse gas emissions* and *ecological footprints* can be quantified and analyzed using *composite index methods*. Understanding these links isn’t just theoretical — it's crucial for designing policies that balance *growth and environmental preservation*. Tools like *environmental performance indexes*, *carbon intensity metrics*, and *sustainability indicators* offer powerful ways to measure and guide real progress. This area of study not only aligns with my interest in *evidence-based economic research*, but also highlights the importance of *climate-conscious development models*. Let’s collaborate, share data, and push for insights that matter." #SustainableDevelopment #EnvironmentalEconomics #CarbonEmissions #Research #Econometrics #FootprintAnalysis #PolicyDesign #ClimateEconomics #PhDResearch #DataDrivenInsights

How is Carbon Literacy inspiring educational institutions to take real action? 🎓 This month’s top Carbon Literacy Climate Action comes from Alex Fenton, Associate Professor and Dean International, who completed his Carbon Literacy training with the University of Chester. Alex recently took students to Storyhouse for their People, Planet, Pictures series, screening The Line We Crossed, a film showcasing the peaceful protest by British nationals against the horrific reality of climate change. This was followed by a Q&A with the film’s director Liz Smith, activist Trudi Warner, and Director of Business Declares, Ben Tolhurst. The discussion inspired plans to re-stage Liz’s films at the University, giving students a hands-on opportunity to engage with environmental action. “Our Carbon Literacy training has had a profound effect on me so far. I’ve always been passionate about our planet but because the training is so powerful and it has the cleverly woven in pledges, it makes it entirely action based and that really resonates with me as an individual and as part of the leadership of University of Chester. Although it’s only been a few weeks, we’ve already had students signing up for our new two-year Masters projects relating to the environment, many of which I discussed and co-created with Donna Okell of UK for Good, who invited us to Storyhouse. The micro credits work really caused me to rethink the strategic direction towards the environment and as a result we applied for funding to support this and will be taking this forward as soon as possible.” From inspiring students into green career paths to leading new environmental projects, Carbon Literacy is driving real action at the University of Chester. 🌱 #CarbonLiteracy #Pledgend #ShowUsYourPledge #ClimateAction

Evolutionary Trends in Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Research in Agriculture and Social Sciences: A Scientometric Review First Online: 22 January 2025, pp 1–25 University Initiatives on Climate Change Education and Research S. F. G. Yusuf, B. E. Akinyemi & O. O. Popoola Summary:Climate change is reshaping economies, environments, and livelihoods—and universities are at the forefront of solutions. Our bibliometric study of 256 articles (2001–2022) highlights the growing role of climate change education (CCE) in addressing mitigation, adaptation, and livelihood resilience. With the USA and UK leading outputs, findings call for stronger multidisciplinary research, integration of CCE into curricula, and deeper global partnerships. Universities must act as knowledge hubs to empower communities against climate risks. #ClimateChange #Research #CCE
