Irish Distillers’ Post

It was a pleasure to welcome William Walsh and the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) board to Midleton Distillery last week where we had the opportunity to showcase how Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) support and expertise is helping Irish Distillers achieve its sustainability objectives.

Chief Executive Officer at Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI)

This week in Cork, we saw first-hand how investing in sustainable energy can drive down energy costs, increase competitiveness and transform workplaces and communities. Together with the SEAI Board, I visited some fantastic initiatives we’ve been able to support with Government funding from the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment: 👉Midleton Distillery — where €3.5m Government investment in a waste-heat recovery system is cutting natural gas use, lowering costs and making the business more competitive, while reducing emissions. 👉 Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind — who received funding for solar panels and insulation, helping them save on energy bills so more resources can go into their vital mission. No Roy Keane unfortunately but lots of very happy - and warmer dogs 🐕 We also had the chance to meet with Simon Coveney and Simon MacAllister (EY) for a fascinating discussion on the geopolitical landscape, and Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI)’s mission as Ireland’s sustainable energy authority fits within that bigger picture. A wonderful opportunity to reflect, regroup, and look ahead to the rest of the year. #Sustainability #EnergyEfficiency #CleanEnergy #Ireland #Leadership
