🌫 Session Highlight: Carbon Capture, Utilization & Storage (CCUS) At #IRSECX2025, we’ll take a close look at the role CCUS can play in cutting emissions and enabling new carbon markets. This session will address: - Cost comparisons of point-source capture and DAC. - Bio-based materials for post-combustion capture. - Emerging CCUS pathways including BECCS, DAC, and electrochemical conversion. - Policy and governance choices shaping CCUS as a bridge or a permanent solution. 📅 October 2, 2025 - 09:30 – 11:00 📍 Auditorium "Ambassador" For those weighing the future of decarbonization, this session explores whether CCUS will remain transitional — or become a cornerstone of a circular carbon economy. https://lnkd.in/eM6P_W6k

It was fantastic to attend the Carbon Capture and Storage Association's Carbon Capture and Storage Association's CCUS2025 Real Projects, Real Impact, Delivering Net Zero Conference held at the QEII Centre in London. Over the last two days, we heard about the amazing developments in the CCUS sector in the UK, Europe and across the world in the last year. One key takeaway is the ongoing need for collaboration, knowledge sharing and standardisation to support the development and scale up of the CCUS industry globally. At the Energy Institute, we continue to support the CCUS industry through collaborating with industry, regulators, academia and wider stakeholders and developing technical good practice guidance and research papers. Advancing CO₂ Transport Together This week Sofie Skotting and myself are in London for CCUS 2025, joining the conversation on how to move carbon capture and storage forward - quite literally. At Svitzer, we’re engaging with industry and policy leaders to explore how safe, reliable CO₂ transport by sea can help unlock scalable CCUS solutions across Europe. Because the energy transition needs every route to net zero. ⚓️ #CCUS2025 #Decarbonisation #Maritime #Svitzer #EnergyTransition

⚡ The IEEE Tech Summit 2025 CleanTech Solutions in Glasgow brought together IEEE societies, councils, and global partners to showcase leading-edge solutions across energy storage, green tech, clean technology, and more — creating space for talks, demonstrations, and hands-on exchange. Igor L., Programme Officer for Energy Efficiency at the UNECE Sustainable Energy Division, spoke on: “Twin Transitions: Governing the Digital Energy Future” He stressed that modernizing energy systems is about more than technology. Strong governance, shared standards, and resilient digital tools are essential to ensure transformation delivers systemwide benefits rather than new silos or risks. The session explored how co-designing digital and energy transitions, adapted to local contexts, can help build inclusive, reliable, and sustainable energy systems. 🗣️ Igor also underlined that digital transformation hinges on people, tools and solutions, security, and political will. 🔗 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gfwYrnVD #CleanTech #UNECE #EnergyTransition #DigitalTransition #Sustainability United Nations Economic Commission for Europe

🔷🧭🟠 ISCM: Iordanis Savvopoulos Consulting & Management 📅 Week 41/2025, Friday: Recap, Reflection & Outlook: From #CCS to #3C and further to #CO2 as Feedstock. Recap of the Week: This week at #ISCM focused on #CCS, #3C (#ClosedCarbonCycle) and #CO2 utilisation. Three stages along the same path towards #Decarbonisation. What started as a technical topic turned into a discussion about #Thermodynamics, #Infrastructure and #InvestmentLogic. #3C, the Closed Carbon Cycle, is no longer a theoretical concept but a benchmark for how seriously industry and policy are taking transformation. Three Key Insights: 1️⃣ No progress without a loop: #CCS is essential but only through #CO2 utilisation (#CCU + #3C) can a truly closed carbon cycle emerge and with it, real #Decarbonisation. 2️⃣ Thermodynamics meets economics: Energy constraints are real, but sites with energy access and #Capture infrastructure (#Rhineland, #Rotterdam, #Leuna) demonstrate where 3C can work in practice. 3️⃣ CO₂ becomes a competitive factor: From waste to resource, #CO2 as feedstock creates a new value-creation logic for #Chemicals, #Energy and #Construction. 🔎 My Personal Perspective: #3C is more than a technical system. It’s a mindset. Those who manage #Carbon instead of avoiding it will drive industrial change. The first generation of projects won’t be perfect but it will prove that #Decarbonisation and #ValueCreation are not contradictory. Outlook Week 42 / Pharma & Chemicals in Europe: 🔹 Tuesday, 14 October 2025, the series #PharmaAndChemicalsInEurope returns. 🔹 Topic of the Week: 👉 Industrial Resilience & Innovation Axes in Europe. From Dependence to Differentiation. How Europe can find a new balance between costs, innovation and investment capacity. #ISCM #SavvopoulosInsights #CO2Reuse #ClimateTech #CircularCarbon #ChemicalsAndPharma #PharmaAndChemicalsInEurope #Innovation #IndustryEurope #Decarbonization

🚨 Excited to share highlights from our recent work presented at WEFTEC 2025! In our talk “Bridging the Gaps in GHG Monitoring from Wastewater Treatment: Insights into Temporal and Spatial Heterogeneity,” we explored how a multi-tiered monitoring approach—integrating satellite imagery, FTIR, TDL, and low-cost sensor networks—can uncover the complexities of methane (CH₄) and nitrous oxide (N₂O) emissions across wastewater treatment operations. 🌍 This study demonstrated that GHG emissions from WWTPs are highly heterogeneous in both time and space, challenging conventional one-dimensional monitoring strategies. Grateful to my co-authors and collaborators for their support, and to the Water Environment Federation community for engaging discussions on advancing sustainability in the water sector. #WEFTEC2025 #GHGemissions #MethaneMonitoring #WastewaterTreatment #RemoteSensing
