As the year comes to and end, I find myself reflecting on the mistakes that I made, the wins that WE achieved, and the opportunities for the year ahead. Let’s focus on WINS today! In the spirit of the old-fashioned “David Letterman’s Top Ten Lists” here are the top ten bold moves from Zimmer Biomet in 2024: 1. We alleviated the pain of 4.3 million people in the year! That means that every seven seconds more or less, someone around the world was a recipient of one of our products. And we are just getting started! 2. We launched 17 new products and are ready to launch north of 40 more in the next 12-24 months. After years carrying gaps in core categories like hips and knees, we are proudly closing the year with zero gaps in our portfolio. I can proudly say that our remediation efforts are done! 3. We achieved best in class status with the FDA and key regulatory stakeholders around the world. Far behind are the years of FDA Warning Letters and other compliance related issues. 4. We made it to the key “top employer lists around the world.” From Best Places to Work Certification Program to Fortune and including many others. In the area of DEI we continue to lead and achieve great recognitions thanks to the amazing work of our one and only Willard McCloud III. We are ranked atop the lists of every key ESG organization that is deemed relevant in the space. 5. We hired the boldest Chief Movement Officer around…..Arnold Schwarzenegger! 6. As of the end of Q3, in spite of some major headwinds like an ERP implementation that didnt go as planned (and is now resolved!), we have delivered mid-single digit growth for eleven quarters in a row with rapid EPS expansion and meaningful free cash flow growth. And nope, we are not satisfied and will do better, bolder things! 7. We signed up great partnerships around the world and acquired best in class technology like OrthoGrid Systems, Inc. When it comes to surgical navigation/robotics there is simply not a more comprehensive offering than ZB’s. And we got a few surprises coming up in 2025! 8. We once again, in accordance to our guiding principles, donated millions to social causes around the globe. In Houston, TX this fall at the Faith In Practice reunion we were recognized for the $26M in implant donations given to under-served communities. And we can and WILL DO MORE! 9. We became the proud official Pickleball Sponsor of the main Pickleball Associations in the US. We want and will keep people on the courts! 10. And the boldest of all: the team knows that we are scratching the potential that this company can achieve. As we enter 2025 in less than a week…….we are truly inspired, energized, and ready to go! “Proud” doesnt suffice as one word to describe how I feel about the work that my teammates do daily. I’m insanely grateful for them and humbled by the opportunity to learn from them hourly! Hurry here 2025!!!
