May 16th, 1950 was the day that the original Jackson County Regional Health Center opened the doors. There was support from physicians, some of the local farmers, even the patients to help fund the original hospital. From the very start, 1950, we were stronger on the inpatient side, much more swing bed days, skilled bed days, and then over the years healthcare in America evolved into what I would say would be a healthcare facility. When we started out, we had an actual darkroom and you ran your X-rays and it came out on an actual piece of film. When I started, the front desk was your 911. There was not 911 addresses. It was go to the green bar, turn right. They didn't have cell phones so you would ask them to keep their phone line clear. Got a lot of us have been here for so many years so we get to know one another on a personal level. What we offer here is expanded and it's continually growing and people like the convenience of it. Geographically, Jackson County is very lucky that we have Dubuque to our north and to the South, Davenport, also Cedar Rapids to the West to pull a lot of specialty services. Currently we have not only inpatient service, but we have numerous outpatient services available or outpatient setting has really taken off due to the specialized care and also the different services that we offer to our patients. We have a beautiful location here in Makokha. We are in a four year old facility. We moved over here from downtown and the one thing that remains true is our care to each and every patient. We have a very supportive board, we have a very supportive staff that are all working towards the same goal and I think that's really important to drive towards our mission every day. 75 years is a huge milestone for the hospital here in MCOCA simply because we've been delivering excellent patient care for those 75 years. Been here for 75 years tells you know, the strength of the community and the fact that people do appreciate having it local 75 years is great. It's so exciting that this hospital has served their community that long and hopefully we can continue to do that and to grow for our patients and the needs that they have in this area. Congratulations Jackson County for 75 years and congratulations on 75 years. Here's the 75 I'd like to. Congratulate Jackson County Regional Health Center for 75 years of wonderful caring for patients and their families. Congratulations on 75 years of dedication and support to our community. For 75 years, this community has supported Jackson County Regional Health Center. It's a team really between the hospital and the community. Congratulations on 75 years. We want to continue to serve our patients and the same way we have the last 75 years.
