From Anaplan to Pigment – The EPM Evolution Continues Let’s move away from our beloved TM1 for a second and look at what’s happening elsewhere in the EPM world. Every few years, a new platform captures the industry’s imagination. Right now, that’s Pigment - the “Anaplan-but-new” platform making plenty of noise in finance circles. It feels a lot like Anaplan in its early days: ✅ Beautiful UX ✅ Collaborative modelling ✅ Cloud-native, fast, and finance-friendly ✅ Backed by a strong go-to-market push — and built by some of the ex-great minds from Anaplan, TM1, Jedox etc. who know the space inside out. But it also raises some familiar questions: How well does it handle complexity at scale – allocations, FX layers, eliminations? What happens when governance and concurrency kick in (hundreds of users editing logic)? Can it stay agile without falling into the same centralisation cycle that Anaplan eventually faced? Pigment’s innovation is real - modern UI, cleaner architecture, stronger APIs - but the laws of modelling physics haven’t changed.
