I guess this counts as 'personal news', but not the usual sort. Last week was my last as a trustee of Royal Society for Public Health. When I volunteered to join the Council in 2019 I thought I would have my arms full helping the organisation get more focus on a policy area that is often shunted to the sidelines. Then Covid happened... As a bit of an outsider to public health, it's been a fascinating experience getting to know the issues, challenges and culture of a very different sector. I've learnt a huge amount about governance, leadership and how to balance challenge and support in a way that helps an organisation grow. I've worked with some terrific people, none more so than our current Chair Jonathan Pearson-Stuttard and vice-chair Liz Wynn. But now, after two terms, it's time to roll off. There are exciting things afoot for the organisation and I wish the trustees, CEO William Roberts and everyone involved all the best.
Thank you for a brilliant innings James. We will miss you very much!
