🎬 ICC Austria Talks Trade Finance – Episode 5 Legal and Jurisdictional Implications of Digital Trade Finance Jurisdiction may sound dry, but when digitalisation meets international law, things get fascinating fast. 🌍 For this episode, I sat down with my fellow ICC Legal Committee member and friend, Lorna K. Strong of Strong Consulting and Associate Programme Director at the London School of Economics explore how the fragmented implementation of the UNCITRAL Model Law on Electronic Transferable Records (MLETR) can expose digital trade transactions to multiple, sometimes conflicting jurisdictions or what legal interoperability really means. Lorna and I also recently co-hosted a webinar on Legal and Risk Issues in Demand Guarantees and Standby Letters of Credit with 60 participants from 30 countries and, by popular demand, we’ve added a new date in March 2026 👉 https://lnkd.in/dhcu_DTw 🎥 Watch the full conversation free of charge here: https://lnkd.in/dVfrZY9R 🔗 Save the date: Trade Finance Week 2026: 8-12 June, Vienna International Chamber of Commerce Trade Treasury Payments (TTP) UNCITRAL: United Nations Commission on International Trade Law #weareICC #iccATtfw

🎬 ICC Austria Talks Trade Finance – Episode 5 Legal and Jurisdictional Implications of Digital Trade Finance In today’s digital trade landscape, questions of jurisdiction and applicable law are taking on new dimensions. As countries move at different speeds in implementing the UNCITRAL Model Law on Electronic Transferable Records (#MLETR), businesses and banks must navigate not only traditional legal boundaries but also varying levels of recognition for digital documents. To explore how these shifts affect the enforceability of trade finance instruments, Eleonore Juliane Treu sat down with Lorna Strong of Strong Consulting and Associate Programme Director at the The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Both are long-standing members of the ICC Legal Committee, chaired by Georges Affaki. Lorna and Eleonore recently co-hosted a successful webinar on Legal and Risk Issues in #DemandGuarantees and #StandbyLettersofCredit, welcoming more than 60 participants from 30 countries. 📅 Due to popular demand, a new date for this webinar has been set for March 2026 — for more info and registration: https://lnkd.in/dYy2JEvt In this new free of charge interview they discuss: • Why clear jurisdiction clauses matter • How legal interoperability under MLETR impacts digital trade finance • Practical ways to navigate complex, cross-border legal risks Watch the full conversation here 👉 https://lnkd.in/dHsMw434 🔗 Learn more about ICC Austria Trade Finance Week 2025: www.tradefinanceweek.org 🔗Learn more about the ICC Banking Commission Legal Committee: https://lnkd.in/dd6KNSQS International Chamber of Commerce, Trade Treasury Payments (TTP) UNCITRAL: United Nations Commission on International Trade Law, #weareICC #iccATtfw Deepesh Patel, tomasch kubiak, Andrew Wilson, Luca Castellani

Thinking About Cross-Border Deals The moment a deal crosses a border, everything changes. I have been reading about how commercial transactions shift once multiple jurisdictions are involved, such as having different tax rules, compliance standards, currencies, and timelines. It is fascinating how much strategy goes into simply making the deal work across systems. I am starting to see why international work demands not just legal knowledge, but coordination, patience, and perspective. #CrossBorderDeals #CorporateLaw #InternationalBusiness #CommercialLaw #Learning

As an academic and tax practitioner who has bought and (most importantly) read cover to cover these transfer pricing textbooks (with blue covers) edited by the prolific team at the Institute for Austrian and International Tax Law, I recommend that every one who loves transfer pricing, especially practitioners, should (1) buy/ access the whole set and (2) read them. Another good one in my basket list.
Out now - " Transfer Pricing Developments Around the World 2025”, edited by Michael Lang and Raffaele Petruzzi! Transfer Pricing Developments Around the World 2025 is a book presenting the current transfer pricing developments at both domestic and international levels, as well as contemporary hot topics in the transfer pricing sphere. As international organizations like the OECD, the United Nations, and the European Commission continue to refine transfer pricing rules, their impact is felt worldwide, with various countries adopting policies and legislation that are inspired by the work of these organizations. The evolving landscape has also been reflected in jurisprudence from the courts of law as they navigate a complex set of rules. Please visit for more information: https://lnkd.in/dBiQ65ke Happy reading! PS: Join us on February 15-17, 2026, for our next conference on "Transfer Pricing Developments Around the World" to discuss the latest developments in TP. #WUTPC #WoltersKluwer #TransferPricing #TaxLaw #TaxLawWU
