Immensely proud to share that this week we launched our latest accessibility features for customers on our self service checkouts. Customers can now change the colour contrast of the screen in addition to the size of the text. This will allow our customers with visual impairments to use self service (if they want). Created in collaboration with the RNIB, Digital Accessibility Centre and our own Disability at Tesco network, this is just one of many more options to make our self service checkouts as accessible to as many people as possible. We know that we have so much more to do for the variety of customer needs but as they say 'every little helps'* *sorry not sorry #tescotechnology

Brilliant! This will make my 19 year old sons day! He has a visual impairment and hates self service due to accessibility. ❤️

Love this - other retailers take note!

Excellent work, presumably it remembers the preference based on the loyalty card (if one is used)?

Yesss! So glad to see this work launched! I noticed someone was using the adaptations in my local Tesco yesterday and did a little jig (internally - I don't want to be THAT weird in public)- excellent work!!

Can you turn the brightness and loudness down?

This is great to see, long overlooked by so many retailers. Kudos to the team.

Hi James, I think this is a great start for self service accessibility. My issue as a w'chair user is that I can't actually reach the screen because the scanning counter is in the way. Have you thought about having some screens which pivot / move so that they can be easier accessed?

Do you plan to have a/b testing? Would be interesting to find out, if something like this could be the default… :) Also: will this be reset after a certain period of time? Thanks a lot for this 🙏
