Explaining ERP in simple terms: A chance to refine my pitch

I help CFOs trust their financial statements and make better decisions.

“ERP? Wah, very bad leh.” That was my neighbor’s reaction in the lift when I told them I sell an ERP solution. (They thought I meant Singapore’s ERP gantries 🤦🏻♂️). It reminded me that even after 3 years in this role, I still have to catch myself — not everyone knows what ERP is. And that’s okay. It’s an opportunity. Because if I can’t explain NetSuite ERP in simple, human terms that even a non-businessperson can understand… am I really clear on the value myself? Every “elevator pitch” (sometimes quite literally in the lift!) is a chance to refine: 👉 Strip out the jargon 👉 Focus on real problems solved 👉 Keep it simple enough that anyone can get it So yes — my ERP isn’t about gantries, it’s about helping fast-growing companies close their books faster, gain visibility, and scale with confidence. And if my neighbor still thinks it’s about gantries… at least I’ll have a good laugh on the way up. 😅 #NetSuite #ERP #FinancialReporting #CloseTheBooks #CFO

So relatable!!! “Uncle, imagine if you managed your house expenses, grocery shopping, family schedules, and bills all in different notebooks. Messy right? An ERP system is like putting everything into one big family planner so you can see the full picture at once. Businesses use it to manage money, inventory, staff, and customers all in one system.” This has worked so far for me 😂
