Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams’ Post

Every member of Team Jeni’s, from part-time ice cream Ambassador through CEO, is eligible for a 4-week paid sabbatical every three years. The purpose of sabbatical is to rest, restore, and get inspired. In 2024, 70 team members spent their sabbatical doing things like traveling the world, spending time with people they love, or learning new hobbies. There is no wrong way to sabbatical…except to check work email or check in with one’s boss; those activities are not allowed while on sabbatical at Jeni’s. “How-did-you-spend-your-sabbatical” stories are as unique as each of our team members, and we love hearing them upon each person’s return. Here is our Human Resources Project Manager, Elli Billisits’ recent sabbatical story: “During my month away, I traveled to New York City, Ireland, and Oregon, checked off bucket list items like visiting the Cliffs of Moher, hiking through Oregon and most importantly, making memories with family and friends. But my sabbatical wasn’t just about ticking things off a list—it was about reinvesting in my life, my relationships, and my own well-being. I came back to work rejuvenated, reconnected to my roots, and ready to tackle new challenges with a fresh perspective. I will forever be grateful for my sabbatical experience and always look forward to hearing about the incredible journeys of my colleagues during their own sabbaticals.”
