Mid-Series Post - Working Parents + Summer Logistics ☀️ Summer Isn’t a Vacation for Working Parents ☀️ With summer in full swing and a few friends and coworkers preparing to welcome new additions to their families, I’ve been reflecting on the unique challenges we face as working parents, especially during this season. So I’m hitting pause on the leadership series for a moment to talk about real life, real logistics, and the precious handful of summers we get to create lasting memories with our kids. I remember the summer before my girls started kindergarten. I was so excited for them to begin school, but then I realized: no more daycare in the summer. And suddenly I found myself asking: “Wait… what do we do now?” I talked to other moms. I searched the internet. I combed through school flyers. And then came the next hard realization: cost. 🌞 Do we pay for a summer-long daycare program? 🌞 Do we sign up for camps (many of which are only half-days)? 🌞 Do we try to coordinate with family and friends to piece it all together? 🌞 Do we make time for vacations, or do we just survive until September? The transition from daycare to elementary school changes everything. You quickly adjust to not paying for full-time care, but summer comes with a whole new set of logistics and cost. Now, years later, I’m still managing the summer juggle. Each year it looks a little different. - Some camps. - Some playdate days. - Some PTO days. And always, intentionally planned family time. Because here’s the truth I come back to every year: We only get so many summers with our kids. And those summers? They become core memories. Camping trips with cousins and friends. Boating weekends with friends. Late-night s’mores under the stars. The joy on their faces when we pull up to the lake or campground...... That’s the magic I don’t want to miss. So this post is for the working parents navigating summer: - Balancing work and activities. - Scheduling around half-day camps. - Budgeting for care + fun. ❤️ Trying to protect quality family time in the middle of it all. How do you plan your summers as a working parent? What’s worked for you, and what are you still figuring out? Because somewhere between the calendar coordination and the chaos.....We’re building memories that matter. #WorkingMoms #CareerMomsUnfiltered #ParentingAndLeadership #SummerLogistics #MakingMemories #FamilyTimeMatters #WorkingParents #WomenInLeadership
