Amongst other principles such as fail-fast during early stages of a project, the achievements of SpaceX and Tesla are based on optimization of processes: Over time, evolving processes and parts can accumulate complexity and that is a potential for simplification. Simplification leads to higher efficiency or higher reliability. Thus, it is worth checking from time to time if such a potential for simplification exists and if it can be unlocked. #SpaceX #Tesla #ProcessOptimization

Engineering is true magic

Science and Tech combined can be fascinating! Here's one example of how.... I've watched the video of a rocket booster (equivalent of a 20 story building) get caught in the air, it's both moving and inspiring. As a former Calculus Instructor, I know this took A LOT of calculations. SpaceX's achievement of landing a rocket booster back on Earth for the first time in history was a monumental feat for engineering, and a powerful testament to #leadership and #teamwork. Here's what we can learn from it:   1) Leadership & Bold Vision: Leaders need a clear vision and the conviction to pursue it, even when it seems impossible. 2) Risk-Taking and Innovation: Leaders must be willing to take calculated risks and encourage innovation to achieve breakthroughs.   3) Perseverance: Leaders need to inspire and maintain focus even in the face of adversity.   4) Empowerment: Leaders must trust their teams, delegate effectively, and create an environment where people can thrive.   5) Teamwork & Collaboration: Teamwork is essential for achieving complex goals.   Recruiting the right people is equally important. Qualifications matter. Last - A Shared Passion on a common goal and a belief in one mission fuels motivation and drives collective effort. #SpaceX #Elonmusk #science #tech

So impressive. Simple in concept yet so complex in execution.

Some might think this was achieved by just having people figure out algorithms, solve engineering problems, or successfully simulate the intended design. Such an exceptional achievement requires more than that, it requires extraordinary systems engineering and program management at every level. with design cycles and timeline passing design will keep growing in complexity and with so many different disciplines involved, managing all that, ensuring smooth collaboration, and maintaining seamless transitions between them is no small task. This success shows exceptional management and organization. Locking correct design early on and getting teams to operate like a well-tuned engine is not easy!

What Boom Supersonic achieved yesterday, successfully taking the world’s first privately developed aircraft supersonic, has been called their “Falcon 1” moment by their founder Blake Scholl, a callback to the first successful SpaceX flight that then led to the Falcon 9 and now Starship. What makes that a full circle statement is how Boom was able to test and use an off-the-shelf Starlink Mini kit hung in the canopy of a supersonic T-38 chase plane so they could stream video and telemetry to their control center during high speed flight.
