In August I worked my last day for Volvo cars. While I was sad to leave, I was grateful not to work through the redundancy process my former colleagues just went through - instead, we’d decided earlier in 2025 that we needed to come back to the UK to support family. We’ve been back in the Uk for three months and I’m already missing kanelbulle, a functioning public transport system, consistently salty food and the ability to swim in a lake without fear of getting dysentery! Oh and the wool blend seats of my XC60. But most of all I miss the colleagues and friends we met on the great adventure we had for the last four years in Sweden - a country I came to love for its beauty and pragmatism along with the hidden, colourful and humorous side that’s less well known. IYKYK. Still, thank god l don’t have to contend with Liquorice ice cream any more. There are many people from Volvo cars that I want to thank, but to mention especially Owen Ready, Thomas Ingenlath and Jeremy Offer. Without them, this adventure might never have happened in the first place and I’ve learned a lot and been supported by each of them these last four years. To all I worked with at Volvo, thank you - and please, #makewagonsgreatagain ;) Tomorrow a new adventure begins, more on that shortly…
