i got my first CFO job in 2018. i had no idea what i was doing. but i did one smart thing. i reached out through my network and asked for intros to great CFOs. i knew i needed all the guidance i could get. turns out, lots of brilliant CFOs are kind, patient people who like helping people. even when you're a barely-30 (!) rookie CFO (!) of a jakarta-based (!) payments startup (!) long story short, here are some of the people who helped me learn CFO 101 way back in 2018: - OpenAI's CFO - Affirm's CFO - GitHub's VP Finance - Brex's CFO - ZoomInfo's CFO and quite a few more. these people all have 100x more CFO skill than i ever will. but their patience and generosity helped me get up to speed fast. and that made all the difference.
