On a rainy day in Copenhagen, Lunar became the first bank and crypto platform in Scandinavia to receive the EU CASP license. A major milestone for us at Lunar - and for the future of digital finance in the Nordics. Lunar has officially been approved as the first Scandinavian bank and crypto platform to operate under the EU’s new MiCA framework (Markets in Crypto-Assets). The license marks a key step for our crypto platform, Lunar Block, which now operates under a unified European framework for crypto services. This approval means stronger transparency, clear risk information, and defined user rights for everyone using Lunar. As I’ve said before: “As a challenger bank, we believe in innovation and in the role crypto assets will play in the digital economy. But innovation needs clear rules. Regulation is key to turning new ideas into reliable services.” With the CASP license, Lunar Block moves from a national registration in Denmark to a fully EU-recognized framework - ensuring the same level of trust and consumer protection that people expect from their bank. For us, this isn’t just about being first - it’s about setting the standard for how crypto can be offered safely, transparently, and responsibly across Europe. We’re proud of this milestone and deeply aware of the responsibility that comes with it.
Vigtigt 👌 tillykke med det, tænker der har lagt hårdt beukrati arbejde bag 😅
Congrats!
This sets a strong precedent for how innovation and regulation can coexist responsibly. Lunar’s CASP approval is a big win not just for the Nordics, but for trust in digital finance across Europe.
