SwarmFarm Robotics raises $30M from Emmertech, Edaphon, and others

Terra Robotics raises €1.8M to accelerate commercialization of laser weeding technology Terra Robotics, an agri-tech startup pioneering laser weeding solutions, has raised nearly €1.8 million in its latest funding round. The investment will support the commercialization of the company’s breakthrough technology, designed to offer farmers a sustainable and efficient alternative to herbicides and manual weeding. The round was led by Uni.Fund with continued backing from Genesis Ventures, Helidoni Group, and the HeBAN - Hellenic Business Angels Network. Angel investor Argyris Kaninis also joined as a new supporter. “With this strong and diverse group of backers, we believe we have built the ideal foundation to accelerate commercialization and bring our laser weeder to farmers worldwide,” said Konstantinos Kandylas, CEO and Co-Founder of Terra Robotics. Agtech leader SwarmFarm Robotics is aiming to accelerate its growth into North America after a successful capital raising. The central Queensland company raised $30m in a Series B round to follow its Series A round of $12m announced in February 2023. SwarmFarm CEO Andrew Bate and his wife Jocie founded the company on their farm at Gindie near Emerald in Central Queensland, and manufacturing recently moved to Wellcamp just outside Toowoomba. Leading the latest round was Belgium-based company Edaphon, whose investments include agtech and biological-input companies in Europe, Israel, and India. Also contributing are existing investors Melbourne-based Tenacious Ventures, the Grains Research and Development Corporation’s GrainInnovate as managed by Artesian (Alternative Investments) Venture Partners, and Canada’s Emmertech, the lead investor in the Series A round. Sydney startup Alloy Robotics has come out of stealth with a $4.5m pre-seed raise led by Blackbird Ventures, Airtree Ventures, and Skip Capital. Founded by Joe Harris (ex-Eucalyptus), Alloy is tackling one of robotics’ toughest problems - making sense of the firehose of data robots produce. The service Alloy offers has already drawn attention from some of the biggest players in the tech world. Senior engineers from Tesla, Waymo, Halter, Carbon Robotics, and Reach Robotics have invested as angels in Alloy’s pre-seed round.
