ACS has completed the construction of a cutting-edge Emergency Operations Center at Metro Center Street for the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) Agency. Working closely with the project architect, MEP engineers, trade contractors, and Metro, ACS has developed a comprehensive low-voltage integrated platform to bolster MTA's emergency operations. The new center boasts a range of advanced systems to ensure seamless operations during any eventuality. With full system redundancy in place, the center can withstand hardware failures, utility outages, acts of terrorism, and natural disasters. Among its features are impressive 40-foot LED video walls, a robust physical security information management (PSIM) system for overseeing all Metro offsite facilities, a security management system, fire alarm system, public safety DAS system, carrier phone DAS system, Metro internal radio communication system, LAN/WLAN/VOIP network systems, emergency console PC workstations, and a public announcement system. 📌 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙡-𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙏𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙧 In one of our past projects, we faced an unexpected challenge during the installation of a 1.8m microwave link (1+1). As a responsible contractor, we had already informed the customer about tower load balance concerns before starting — but the vendor team initially said there was no problem!. Once we proceeded with the work, it became clear that the load was indeed critical and could risk tower stability. To resolve the issue, we worked with the customer to revise the design and replace the antennas with 0.9 m ones, bringing the tower load back within safe limits. This required rework and additional time — but ensured a safe and compliant solution. 📡 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙉𝙤𝙩𝙚: A heavy, unbalanced dish can shift slightly under wind load, causing antenna misalignment. Even a small misalignment can: • Reduce RSL (Received Signal Level). • Increase bit error rate. • Impact network availability. Correct tower loading keeps the antenna stable and the link reliable. 💡 𝙇𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙙: ✔ Conduct a proper site survey before planning. ✔ Check tower load calculations carefully. ✔ Plan dish placement to keep the tower balanced and reduce wind impact. ✔ Involve all stakeholders early to avoid rework — even if it means challenging initial assumptions.
